The Central Warriors Football Team secured consecutive victories for the first time since the 2024 season, defeating Summit 24-12 in a recent home game. This achievement positions the Warriors for an upcoming matchup against the Rifle Bears, who also clinched back-to-back wins this past week.

Central’s defense established its presence early in the game. On Summit’s initial offensive play, the Tigers fumbled the ball, recovering it for a loss as Paul Broussard and Will Diaz closed in. The following play saw Broussard and Diaz again stop the run for minimal gain. Later in the same drive, Summit’s Ty Carter found some space but was hit by Broussard, causing a fumble that Central's Tyrus Kellerby recovered. Despite the turnover, Summit’s defense also made plays, as Connor Erwin intercepted a pass from Central quarterback Noah Rosales.

Both teams displayed strong defensive efforts, with the first quarter remaining scoreless for an extended period. Summit eventually broke the deadlock when Ty Carter broke tackles for the game's first score, giving the Tigers a 6-0 lead.

The Warriors swiftly answered back. Noah Rosales, off balance, launched a deep pass downfield to Tyrus Kellerby, who was eventually brought down by multiple Summit defenders. On the very next play, Miguel Carrillo ran for a touchdown, tying the game at 6-6. Central then converted the two-point attempt, with Kellerby reaching the end zone to give the Warriors an 8-6 lead.

Central continued to innovate on offense. Rosales executed a trick play, rolling out before throwing across the field to Tristan Valdez, a Central guard who was an eligible receiver on the play. Valdez gained yardage after the catch. Following this play, Carrillo scored his second touchdown, extending Central's lead to 16-6 by halftime. The Warriors held on in the second half, securing the 24-12 victory. The win marks a significant achievement for the Central program, as the last time the Warriors achieved consecutive victories was in the 2024 season, when they outscored Adams City and Skyline by a combined 90 points.

In other local football news, the Rifle Bears also achieved back-to-back wins, shutting out the Glenwood Springs Demons 28-0 on the road. This marks the first time a Rifle defense has blanked an opponent since October 27, 2023, when they defeated Coal Ridge 54-0.

Next week, the Central Warriors will travel to Rifle to face the Bears. The game will determine which team can extend their winning streak to three games.
