Mesa County Public Health Department conducted a series of routine and complaint-based inspections throughout the Grand Valley between September 16 and September 29, identifying various violations at a range of establishments from Loma to Palisade. Several dining locations at Colorado Mesa University (CMU) and other local restaurants were cited, along with a Grand Junction middle school.
At Colorado Mesa University's 885 Kennedy Avenue address, Eat Market received six violations during a routine inspection on September 17. A re-inspection on September 29 found two remaining violations. Jamba Juice, also at 885 Kennedy Avenue, received six violations during its routine inspection on September 17. Unbranded Grill and Panera Bread, both at the same CMU address, each received two violations during their routine inspections on September 17. The Ramen Bar, located at 885 Kennedy Avenue as well, received one violation during its routine inspection on the same day.
Beyond the university campus, several other establishments across Mesa County also received citations. The Goat And Clover Tavern, located at 336 Main Street, Unit 104, had five violations during a re-inspection on September 16. La Michoacana, at 2430 Patterson Road, Suite C, received four violations during a re-inspection on September 16. Terravin Cellars, a Palisade establishment at 349 West 8th Street, was cited for three violations during a routine inspection on September 29. Costa Vida, at 2430 Patterson Road, Suite A, also received three violations during its routine inspection on September 29.
Rib City Grill Mobile, operating at 876 18 1/2 Road in Fruita, received two violations during a routine inspection on September 25. MOD Pizza, located at 1201 Wellington Avenue, Suite 101, was cited for two violations during a routine inspection on September 29.
Local schools were also part of the inspection schedule. Orchard Mesa Middle School, at 2736 Unaweep Avenue, received two violations during a routine inspection on September 16. Rocky Mountain Elementary School, at 3260 D 1/2 Road in Clifton, received zero violations during its routine inspection on September 29, and also had zero violations reported during two complaint-based inspections on the same day.
Other establishments inspected found to have no violations include Colterris Collections at 3708 G Road in Palisade during a routine inspection on September 17, and Happy Country Store at 1343 13 Road in Loma during a routine inspection on September 28. Rib City Grill Mobile also received zero violations during a complaint-based inspection on September 25.
Mesa County Public Health's website states that these inspection reports provide only a snapshot of a restaurant's conditions at a specific day and time. No establishments have closed since the previous health department report on September 3. Residents can file a complaint regarding safety or sanitation concerns about local restaurants, body art businesses, child care facilities, and public pools by calling 970-248-6900 or by completing an online form available on Mesa County Public Health's website.
