Klik Boutique in downtown Grand Junction has significantly expanded its offerings by opening a new Western wear section in its basement and adding a small bar on its main floor, The Business Times reported. The expansion, named "Klik’s Western Underground," officially launched on October 1 at 354 Main St., aiming to meet a growing local demand for Western-themed clothing and accessories while enhancing the overall customer experience.
Owner Susan Lettman, who bought the commercial condominium housing Klik Boutique on May 14 this year, decided to transform the building's basement from a storage area into a vibrant retail space. The main floor of Klik Boutique has been dedicated to Boho-chic fashion for 17 years. The basement itself offers more square footage than the main level, with approximately 1,700 square feet now designated for displaying Western clothes and accessories out of a total 2,000 square feet.
Lettman told The Business Times that she recognized a need for Western flair in her downtown store and saw an opportunity to utilize the untapped basement area. She noted, "I love to kind of dress the Western look," and observed that "everybody was coming in wanting more of that." She consulted with Sarah Ryken, owner of Laredo Hat Bar, which has leased a small portion of the basement for the past year and a half. Lettman suggested to The Business Times that this collaboration was "a great way to kind of collab the two together."
The new downstairs section is distinctively called "Klik’s Western Underground" because of its basement location, a detail Lettman described to The Business Times as "a fun little flair." The expansion was originally intended to open on September 1, coinciding with Klik’s 17th anniversary, but was delayed by a month. Despite the delay, Lettman believes the October launch is well-timed, telling The Business Times, "I feel like the timing’s perfect," especially with the onset of fall and the upcoming holiday shopping season, when customers are gearing up for new apparel.
In addition to the subterranean expansion, Klik Boutique also introduced a small bar on its main floor on October 1. This new amenity offers customers wine and beer, a move designed to create a more welcoming atmosphere for all visitors. Lettman primarily serves women clientele but wanted to accommodate those who might bring their partners along, aiming to "make it a great experience" for everyone. She recounted to The Business Times that the bar was "really appreciated" by customers over the weekend following its opening. She noted a specific instance where a gentleman had inquired about finding a beer a week before the bar opened, illustrating the demand she recognized.
The expansion marks a significant step for the long-standing downtown business, nearly doubling its display area and diversifying its fashion focus to include both Boho-chic and Western styles. By utilizing previously unused space and adding new customer amenities, Klik Boutique aims to offer a broader appeal to Grand Junction shoppers.
